What Happens During A Session?
You don't actually have to do anything in the session – the magic happens automatically beneath your conscious mind. All you do is lie back and relax and listen to the music coming through your headphones. Enjoy some well-earned down time or — if you really can't spare a moment — use the session to check your emails on your phone. Children can play video games on their iPad (with the audio muted) or can draw or colour in. Every time your brain is about to change into a state of dysregulation, you will hear an interruption in the music. What you will probably feel is a slow and gentle relaxing of the whole body. Over a number of sessions, the brain is trained to become more flexible, resilient, creative and calm — leaving you better equipped to handle life's difficulties and more able to make positive changes.
How Often Should I Come In For Sessions?
Ideally, two sessions spread out during the week are best so as not to leave it too long between sessions (especially in the beginning) while the brain is trying to learn how to respond differently. If that is too demanding for your schedule, however, coming in once a week is another option. You will still see the benefits only the results will take a little longer. Neurofeedback is designed to reduce your stress rather than add to it, so its important to accomodate whatever works best for your budget and timetable.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
I wish I could give you a 'guess-timate' but every brain is different. Some people start noticing subtle changes from the very first session, for others change takes longer. The average number of sessions people have had in the past is between 20 and 40. If you are older or have chronic issues of many years standing, it is likely you will require more training; whereas children and adolescents with recent issues tend to require less training because of the increased plasticity of their brains. The good thing is that a course of neurofeedback is an investment in your future: if you train for long enough and give your brain a chance to learn how to operate in an optimised state, the changes are permanent and the brain resets at a new normal. That said, some people love the feeling of calm they experience after their session so much that they continue to come in for maintenance brain-optimising sessions fortnightly or monthly long after their initial training period is completed — just like having a regular massage. How long you want to train your brain for and how deep you want your transformation to go is up to you. Extended training can achieve profound insights into the nature of consciousness, love, the impermanence of self and the interconnectedness of all living beings.
WHAt Is The Neuro Brain’s Cancellation Policy?
I require at least 26 hours notice of cancellation or I will ask you to bear the cost of the session. Twenty-six hours notice means if our session is scheduled for 11am Wednesday then notice must be given by at least 9am on Tuesday, otherwise you will be invoiced for the full amount of the session. I sympathise that life sometimes throws us curve balls; however, I rent my practice room by the hour so I will be out of pocket the cost of the room if I don't give 24 hours notice of cancellation to the Practice Manager. Of course it also means I have not been able to give another client your time slot. I thank you for your consideration in this matter.
